Christmas Shopping Challenges Solved

December is the month car folk attend to Christmas shopping. O.K. often it is late December. It is tough to come up with the ideal gift for others. And others struggle just as much choosing your gift. We have some helpful suggestions to pass along to your Santa.

To compete in Bambina in 2010, and the 5-day International in 2011, you are going to need several items (see Rules and Regulations), including a tow rope, a spill kit, 3 triangles, and a 10 BC fire extinguisher. Everyone will think you are being Boy Scout prepared for winter driving ......which you are..... just not for the same reasons they assume!!

Of course, you could also employ strategic gift-giving, and buy your co-driver of choice any of these items. The accompanying card could read "you never know when you might need these, but I'm thinking late May". A gift with some mysterious linkage is always cool!

More Santa-like Activities

Santa and snow go together like Adam and Eve. The Scandinavians seem to think snow and motorsport go together too. So, we at TCW are going to take in a cross-cultural event by attending the BIG WHITE WINTER RALLY December 5 and 6 near Kelowna, British Columbia. Race cars flat out over snow-covered roads sounds crazy, but it explains why the Finns are so over-represented in the ranks of Formula One Champions.

Kudos go out to our friends and colleagues Alex Schubel and Dr. Jen Daly, and their many assistants, for making the BIG WHITE WINTER RALLY a recurring success. To show TCW's support, an entry in TCW Bambina will be one of the prizes that BIG WHITE WINTER RALLY participants can win.

Bambina Format Moves Forward

While a 5-day international Targa dictates street legal cars, mandatory co-drivers, rally computers, pump fuel, and no towing between stages -- a 1-day Targa event has more flexibility. Thus, we are designing TCW's Bambina (May 24, 2010) to be as inclusive as possible. In particular, we are working with the KNOX MOUNTAIN HILLCLIMB (running May 22, and 23, 2010) organizers to have as many of their competitors as possible eligible for Bambina.

Our thanks to Bryan Fulton, Alan Reid, and the scores of other Knox Mountain personnel, for their on-going support and cooperation.
