COMMUNITY CONSULTATION SUCCESS |
Thanks to the Community of Nakusp & Arrow Lakes Region
Thanks to the initiative of Donaldo DeSandoli in inviting Targa Canada West to Nakusp... followed by a warm welcome from Mayor Karen Hambling and Nakusp Council.
Over 55 people turned up to the Community Consultation and Event Presentation, including Nakusp Mayor, members of Nakusp Council, representatives from Nakusp Chamber of Commerce and Nakusp Fire Department, and many others citizens from Nakusp, New Denver, Silverton and even Kaslo.
Small Event with Big Potential
It's an "adventure tourism" event with potential international draw.
The Targa event fits in with the Nakusp & Arrow Lakes Tourism Plan:
- Shoulder season (Spring and Fall).
- Uses existing infrastructure.
- A defined target-market group: "experiential tourism" road trips such motorcycle-style "loop tours" for the scenery, villages & hot springs of the BC Interior.
- Attracts "net new" tourists, people from outside the region who have not experienced, or even heard of, Nakusp before.

Hello everyone. We trust you all have had a great summer filled with amazing motoring experiences. Much has been happening at Targa Canada West, so we wanted to be back in touch. Duane Bentley Takes the Reins. As the last newsletter stated, TCW was purchased by Duane and it will become a not-for-profit organization. Duane has been busy meeting with the many consultants and stakeholders in planning the way forward. The original founder, Kelly Silverthorn, is assisting in whatever way asked, including authoring most of this newsletter. Welcome aboard Jennifer Daly and Keith Morison. Targa Canada West is pleased to have these two join as key people in the new executive committee - both are respected and experienced rally organizers and competitors.
