TTR Event Overview
This Targa Canada West event, TTR, is the first step towards a multi-day adventure tourism style competition, in the spirit of the original Targa Florio.
TTR Performance (note this category has been cancelled for May 2011 event) is a one-road rally, with "special stage" total of 40km (25 miles), with very little transit distance. In other words, more time spent in competition.
- These special stages are temporarily closed to the public, safely controlled & monitored for the race.
- Cars transit between special stages, and must obey the rules of the road, respecting that Targa Canada West and competitors are guests of the Nakusp community.
- Targa Canada West intends for this to be a fully sanctioned and insured event by the highest levels of Canadian motorsport authority.
- Elevation change on special stage is approx. 1000 feet, or 300 meters.
- All cars must run with a driver and co-driver.
- Course notes are provided at onsite-registration.
Targa Categories
Targa Canada West has two main Categories: Performance and Precision.
TARGA PERFORMANCE (NOTE: Performance has been cancelled for the May 2011 event.) Performance teams are scored by one simple rule... the fastest time wins. Accordingly, Targa Performance teams are governed by Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS) rules [and therefore event insurance]. The vehicles must be street-legal (working headlights, turn signals, etc.), registered and insured.
As per CARS rules, performance entries must have CARS recognized cages, race seats, harnesses, suits, helmets and head and neck restraints. Contact Craig Ross at
