WHAT IS TARGA

Targa Canada West is a competitive motorsport event open to sports cars of all makes and models, from classic to modern.

Taking place on the twistiest paved public roads between the valleys, lakes and mountains of BC's Southern Interior. (For community safety, during each stage of the event roads are closed to the public and reopened as soon as the special stage is clear.)

The event is patterned after three current annual Targa-style competitive tarmac rallies. In order of age and size, these are:

Sporting cars of the past and present will compete against the clock over closed public road "Special Stages" and in between, tour through 'Beautiful BC' in "Transit Stages" (obeying all the laws).

Targa Canada West offers two categories. Regular street-legal cars can enter Targa Precision Category for a ‘spirited' TSD-style rally. Precision Category sets a limited target speed, so no need to risk your car and no requirement to add complex safety gear. Targa Performance Category is a full-on contest of epic proportions and yet judged by one simple rule: the fastest time wins. This is a West Coast Rally Association (WCRA) event sanctioned by the Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS) and ASN Canada FIA: so full roll cage and safety gear required in the Performance Category. Targa Performance: the full chance to test your metal... and your mettle.

Get behind Targa... get behind the wheel.

Dates to note: Targa Canada West's inaugural event is Targa Tabula Rasa, aka TTR, May 14, 2011 in Nakusp, BC, Canada.
